Omega Commercial Interiors Company Retreat
Peggy Lovio and Dave McCormick of Omega Commercial Interiors rekindled their employee spirit last week with a company retreat through Adventures on the Gorge.
Adventures on the Gorge are explorers who see in the human experience an overwhelming desire to seek a sense of awe. They truly have created a new kind of vacation destination, where families, beginners, hard-core adventurers and every type of person in between can romp around the glens and gorges of West Virginia and then return to decadent food, luxurious lodging and surprising amenities. Adventures on the Gorge provides a sense of awe that melts away the stress of everyday life.
The New River Gorge Bridge
The New River flows through North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia before joining with the Gauley River to form the Kanawha River at the town of Gauley Bridge, West Virginia. Over the New River, The New River Gorge Bridge is a steel arch bridge listed in the National Register of Historic Places that is 3,030 feet long. The bridge is located in the Appalachian Mountains near Fayetteville, West Virginia. With an arch 1,700 feet long, the New River Gorge Bridge was for many years the world’s longest single-span arch bridge and is now the fourth longest. It is also the third highest in the United States. At the northern end of the bridge, the park service operates a visitor center with scenic overlooks. A staircase descends part of the way into the gorge. A steel catwalk two feet wide runs the full length of the bridge underneath the roadway and is open for guided tours.
Outside of the Daily Grind
“This was an incentive for a successful 2017 and a chance for all of us to enjoy each other outside of the daily grind,” David McCormick said. He added, “Peggy and I wanted to go somewhere in West Virginia so we chose Adventures on the Gorge. What a wonderful venue and a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this for all. For us, the trip included many team building activities. In the two days and evenings we spent there, we participated in the treetop canopy tour, the gravity zip lining, the guided hikes, the bridge walk and had formal dinners at the lodge. We also listened to a motivational speaker, Chuck Stump. We never had to leave the premises for anything. Peggy and I were proud to be able to do this for our employees.”
